The Cat's Meow FAQ

What's so great about them?

Simply put it is the Cat's Meow! Of all the sleeping bags I've had there's none that quote as comfortable as the Meow. It's light, warm, and compresses down small with none of the disadvantages of a down sleeping bag. It's got a glow in the dark zipper pull and a pocket for your watch or cell phone. They're so great I've gotten every new model The North Face has come out with since 2004!

So you say alot of scouts swear by it, should I get one for my boy that's just started Cub Scouts?

A full size sleeping bag might not be the best idea for a 7 or 8 year old kid, a large cold spot would be present below their feet. A better bet might be to get an inexpensive youth sized bag first such as the Slumberjack  Go-N-Grow ($54.99) or Lil-Scout ($39.99). Buying an expensive brand name bag like a North Face Tigger ($99.99) could be just waste of money unless they are passed down as most Cub Scouts won't need their compressibility or temperature rating. When your Cub Scout crosses over to Webelos and they are serious about continuing on, it is a good time to consider purchasing a Cat's Meow Sleeping Bag.

Why do I need to consider getting  an expensive 3 season bag when I/my son is a Boy Scout?

Every scout should have a durable 3 season bag such as the Cat's Meow. Keep in mind not every scout needs an expensive tent but their own sleeping bag is an essential part of their kit. Sleeping bags purchased at big box stores like Wal-Mart and Target don't have the durability and are heavier than brand name bags. An easy way to tell a sleeping bag's quality it looking at the spacing between the baffles (switching) in the insulation. Good quality bags are sticthed closer togerther than low quality bags.

What are these four grey straps around my Cat's Meow Sleeping Bag?

They are for strapping to your sleeping pad. You can buy elastic straps to fasten your sleeping bag to your pad so you don't slip off during the night
